Behind a ridiculous 11 birdies, Austin Eckroat wins World Wide Technology
– by Nick Piastowski / GOLF
Per Nick: “Birdies on 1 and 2. Birdies on 4, 5 and 6. Birdie on 8. Birdies on 10, 11 and 12. And another on 14. And another on 17. Eleven in all…”
B&B POV: Austin Eckroat woke up Sunday in Mexico in a good mood (surely).
He then bossed chorizo & eggs at Denny’s Misiones (his personal chef more likely prepared him something that started with “egg whites”).
Skipped right past the practice area, straight to the 1st tee (Ha! Or, he spent 2+ hours getting loose and loobed).
He then proceeded to whoop on his peers and take home the big winner’s check after firing a scorching 9-under 63 to win the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico. His 2nd victory of the season. This part of the story we can confirm. Viva El Campeon!
Rory McIlroy says Trump presidency could ‘clear the way’ for deal between PGA Tour, Saudi Arabia’s PIF
– by Joel Beall / Golf Digest
Per Joel: “Rory McIlroy says Donald Trump’s election to the United States presidency could “clear the way” for an end to the schism in professional golf…”
B&B POV: President Trump is already a busy man, and will only get busier starting Jan. 20, 2025 when he takes the reins once again as the Leader of the Free World.
Right up there with ending world conflicts, transforming the US economy, and securing our borders, the President/President-Elect has proclaimed he could end professional golf’s civil war between the PGA TOUR and LIV Golf “in minutes.” Rory McIlroy said last week he felt Trump “might be able to.” We hope in his downtime he can light a fire under the arses of PIF and Monahan’s clan and get it done. Please.
PAYDAY! 2024 World Wide Technology Championship Prize Money Payouts
– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys
Per Thomas: The 2024 PGA TOUR’s Fall Series World Wide Technology Championship featured a weaker field and one of the smallest purses of the season. It’s just that time of year. Most players playing in the Fall Series are doing everything they can to accrue enough points to secure their cards for 2025; those who finish top 10 in points in the Fall Series will earn spots in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis. The 2nd and 3rd Signature events of the 2025 season…

WITB: Winner’s Bag: Austin Eckroat, 2024 World Wide Technology Championship
– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys
Per Thomas: Earlier this year we wrote a WITB article on Austin Eckroat after his 1st PGA TOUR victory. For today’s article, we are going to compare what his Ping set-up looked like in March versus what it looked like this past week.
- Driver = the same
- 3-wood = the same
- Irons = the same
- Wedges = mostly the same. The one difference — his shafts were painted black in Mexico (DG Tour Issue X100 Onyx shafts)
- Putter = Ping PLD DZB custom (Nov) versus Pin Redwood D66 (Mar)
- Ball = the same
The key takeaway here: If it works, don’t go changing things up just because something shinier and new goes on sale at Dick’s or PGA TOUR Superstore. Eckroat has had a great season with two victories and he finished top 50 in the FedEx Cup. He is now more or less guaranteed a spot in every big event he wants to play in 2025…

Bernhard Langer wins for 18th straight year on PGA Tour Champions
– by Associated Press / ESPN
Per The AP: “Bernhard Langer won for the 18th straight year on the PGA Tour Champions, holing a 30-foot birdie putt on the final hole to hold off Steven Alker in the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship on Sunday at Phoenix Country Club…”
B&B POV: Steely-eyed, gray flowing mane sporting, coolest pants on the senior tour super German Bernhard Langer won the PGA TOUR Champions season-ending event Sunday, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. He is 67 years-young. He bested or tied his age 3x during the four-day event. With his victory yesterday, he now has won 18 straight years on tour. And he extended his record as the oldest winner all-time on the senior circuit. Oh, and he did all this yesterday only 8-months removed from tearing his Achilles tendon.
Wow. Bernhard Langer. A top-10 player of all time! Go ahead and try and talk us out of that lofty declaration.
