What’s in the Bag (WITB): Justin Rose, 2026 Edition

Justin Rose, yesterday’s emphatic winner of the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey, has long been an equipment free agent. It makes sense for him to be. He’s generationally wealthy and doesn’t need to carry an equipment contract to pay his travel expenses.

After dozens and dozens of hours of testing the latest and greatest gear on the range, and the oldies but goodies sitting in his garage, he’s selected a bag of tools that give him the most confidence under pressure. And after watching his performance yesterday, and going back at least the past 12 months, there is no question he’s playing with the right setup for him.

Rose’s clubs reflect his strategic, shot-making-first style rather than pure power. His current setup includes:

Driver: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond Max – with Mitsubishi Diamana WB 63 TX shaft — chosen for stability, low-spin and accuracy off the tee. Rose hits a pretty high ball, so picking a shaft that lowers his spin rate is a smart choice. Also, the driver was released 2 years ago (3 models have been released since), so he isn’t playing the newest tech. Instead, he’s playing with what performs best for him.

Fairway woods & 7-wood: TaylorMade M6 3-wood and Qi4D 7-wood — the 7-wood gives him controlled launch and easier scoring opportunities from longer par-5s or tight approach situations. Rose is following the trend of placing a 7-wood in the bag. Torrey is known for having firm, wind-swept greens. Hitting a 7-wood versus a hybrid or long iron into firm greens will aids stopping the ball on the putting surface.

Irons: A mixed set of Miura TC-502 (longer irons) and Miura MC-502 (short irons) with KBS C-Taper shafts — this combo blends forgiveness where needed with precise feel near the greens. Good luck finding these irons in any store. They are a 1-of-1 set, built specifically for Rose.

Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM10 and WedgeWorks 60° — trusted for consistent spin and scoring versatility around the greens. VOKEY’S ARE THE BEST!!!

Putter: A Scotty Cameron Phantom T-5 prototype — known for alignment confidence and stable roll, important for scoring under pressure. Don’t kid yourself, this putter has been perfectly built and bent to match Rose’s needs.

Ball: Titleist Pro V1x — high spin around the greens and optimized distance control help his iron-to-green performance. Being able to control the flight/spin of his shots throughout his bag is paramount for Rose. Titleist makes the best ball in the world, and for Rose, the V1x performs better for him than the V1.

His equipment supported tremendous accuracy, ball control, and short-game performance this past week in San Diego, contributing to a historic performance in which he led wire-to-wire and set the Farmers Insurance scoring record at 23-under. Rose’s setup amplifies his precision and control, aligning with his experience and strengths rather than chasing raw distance — and that synergy showed up in his dominant win.
