Two winners. Two bags. 53-under total. What can you learn from their setups? J.J. Spaun and Jacob Bridgeman both found the winner’s circle Sunday. Their golf bags took very different paths to get there.
It was a pretty entertaining Sunday in professional golf.
Across the pond, J.J. Spaun closed with a 5-under 67, birdied four of his final five holes and won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth by two shots over a stacked field of many of the world’s best.
Back in North Carolina, Jacob Bridgeman shot a ridiculous 10-under 61 to erase a five-shot deficit and win the PGA TOUR’s inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville by two.
Two tournaments. Two winners. Two very different equipment setups.
And because we are constitutionally incapable of watching someone win a golf tournament without immediately wondering what the hell they have in the bag, we dug into both.
Here’s what Spaun and Bridgeman were gaming when they got their hands on the trophies.
J.J. Spaun — BMW PGA Championship
Spaun’s bag has a little bit of everything. If you read B&B, by now you know he’s an equipment free-agent.
There’s Titleist off the tee, TaylorMade in the fairway, Srixon irons, Cleveland wedges, and a trusty L.A.B. he uses to drain snakes and knee shakers on the greens.

And this is where the Spaun story gets really interesting.
He had been experimenting with other putters during the summer, including a Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5, before returning to the L.A.B. DF3.
That was the same model he used during his breakthrough 2025 season, including his U.S. Open victory.
Apparently, old friends still know where the bodies are buried.
Spaun went back to the DF3 and then promptly won the BMW PGA Championship.

Bridgeman’s move into the Qi4D was one of the more notable changes to his bag, and he wasted approximately zero time making it look like a good decision.
He used it to win the Biltmore Championship Asheville for his second victory of the 2026 season.

But Bridgeman’s setup makes sense. Instead of trying to turn a long iron into a launch-monitor science project, he has a high-lofted fairway wood that can launch the ball high and stop it.
And when you have 61 in your gun sight, having a club that gets the ball up in the air and onto the green is exactly what we recommend.

The Fun Part
Look at those two bags and you get a pretty good reminder that there isn’t exactly one recipe for winning golf tournaments.
Spaun’s bag is a genuine equipment mashup. He has four different major equipment brands represented between his driver, fairways, irons, wedges and putter.
Bridgeman, meanwhile, basically walked into the Biltmore with a TaylorMade catalog strapped to his back.
And both worked.
There are also some fun similarities.
Both players use combo iron sets.
Both carry a high-lofted fairway wood.
Both use three wedges.
Both use short putters.
And both clearly have bags built around what they want to do—not simply whatever happens to be the newest club sitting on the rack.
Which, frankly, is probably the biggest takeaway.
The clubs matter.
The fit matters.
The shaft matters.
But eventually somebody still has to hit the damn thing.
On Sunday, Spaun and Bridgeman did that part pretty well.
Two winners. Two very different bags. Same result: sweet, sweet victories.
