We still can’t get over that the purse for the PGA Championship was less than any ‘ol Joe LIV event, but the boys still played for a cool $17.5M. Not a bad incentive to play your balls off! Also, everyone who played and missed the cut took home $4k which for the PGA Professionals who played in the event—not to be confused with the PGA Tour players who teed it up—would have at least partially covered a week’s worth of Rochester and caddy expenses.
One PGA pro who ended up not needing the $4k was our friend and fellow Mission Viejo resident Michael Block, PGA – Arroyo Trabuco. He pocketed $288k for finishing T-15, and also picked up invites to next year’s PGA, next week’s Charles Schwab, and the Canadian Open later this summer. Woot.
Koepka earned every penny of the $3.15M he took home. He played awesome, and, unlike most of his LIV buddies who teed it up, he didn’t rep any silly LIV logo on his body or bag. Good for him and good for Nike.
