Jackson Koivun’s professional career is officially on the fast track.
Just weeks removed from wrapping up one of the greatest collegiate careers in recent memory, the 21-year-old Auburn star held off World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler to capture the 2026 3M Open, winning by three shots at 25-under par in just his third start as a professional. Koivun’s victory earned him $1.584 million, vaulted him up the FedExCup standings, and confirmed what the golf world already suspected—he isn’t just the future of American golf. He’s already here. And the pundits are calling for him to be seriously considered to represent the U.S. in the Presidents Cup later this fall.

Koivun’s GT2 driver gave him the perfect blend of speed and forgiveness throughout the week. While TPC Twin Cities rewards aggressive driving, keeping the ball in play was equally important, especially with Scheffler applying pressure on Sunday. The low-lofted 8-degree head paired with Fujikura’s Speeder TR shaft helped Koivun launch penetrating tee shots that consistently found fairways. And at 8 degrees, it’s one of the lowest lofted drivers on tour.

One of the more interesting additions to Koivun’s bag is the prototype GTS3 fairway wood. Titleist’s tour staff has increasingly experimented with prototype fairway woods before retail release, and Koivun clearly trusted it enough to put it in play during his biggest week as a professional. He hit a bomber 3-wood on Saturday on #12 that led to his 2nd eagle of the day. The 3-wood flew over 280 in the air, finishing up inside 20 ft.

Koivun repeatedly buried momentum-saving putts throughout the week and looked remarkably composed despite playing in the final group with the world’s best player chasing him down.
