Russell Henley didn’t overpower Colonial Country Club. He doesn’t overpower many golf courses. That’s not his superpower. This Bulldog hits lasers, drains snakes and has a nasty habit of showing up on Sunday when everyone else starts leaking oil.
On a golf course that has rewarded precision and discipline for nearly 80 years, Henley, a long-standing Titleist staffer, delivered one of the most memorable finishes of the 2026 PGA Tour season. Trailing by three shots with three holes to play, he birdied Nos. 16, 17 and 18 before adding another birdie on the first playoff hole to defeat Eric Cole and capture the Charles Schwab Challenge.
The victory was Henley’s sixth PGA Tour title and another reminder that elite ball striking still wins golf tournaments. Colonial isn’t a venue that rewards brute force. It rewards players who consistently put the ball in position, hit quality approach shots and capitalize on opportunities.
Few players do those things better than Henley.
His equipment setup reflects that philosophy. Unlike many Tour players who frequently change clubs, Henley relies heavily on trusted equipment that has remained in his bag for years. His driver is several generations old. His fairway wood has become one of the longest-tenured clubs on Tour. And while technology continues to evolve, Henley’s setup remains centered around precision and consistency rather than chasing distance.
Here’s a closer look at the clubs that helped him conquer Colonial.
Driver

Titleist TSi3 (10 degrees) – SHOP NOW
Shaft: Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black 70 6.5 TX
While many Tour players have moved into newer generations of Titleist drivers, Henley continues to trust the TSi3. The club remains one of the most accurate drivers in professional golf and fits perfectly with his fairway-first strategy. At Colonial, accuracy proved far more valuable than raw power.
Fairway Woods

Shaft: Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black 80 TX
Titleist GTS3 7-Wood (21 degrees) – SHOP NOW
Shaft: Project X Denali Black 80 TX
Henley’s 7-wood continues a growing trend among Tour players who value higher launch and softer landing angles into firm greens. The club provides versatility from both the fairway and rough while helping him attack long par-4s and par-5s.
Irons
Titleist T250 (4-iron) – SHOP NOW
Titleist T100 (5-9 irons) – SHOP NOW
Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold AMT (4-6) and Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 (7-9)
This may be the most important section of Henley’s bag.
His combination of a more forgiving T250 long iron and traditional T100 scoring irons gives him the perfect blend of launch, forgiveness and precision. Few players on Tour control distance and trajectory as consistently as Henley, and his iron play was once again the foundation of his victory at Colonial.
Wedges
Titleist Vokey Design SM11 (VOKEY!!!!!) – SHOP NOW
- 47° (48-10F bent to 47°)
- 51° (50-08F bent to 51°)
- 55° (54-10S bent to 55°)
- 60° (60-04T)
Henley carries four wedges to create precise yardage gaps throughout the scoring clubs. Around Colonial’s challenging greens, the setup allowed him to attack pins while maintaining the versatility needed from tight Bermuda lies and greenside bunkers.
Putter
Scotty Cameron Phantom 5 – SHOP NOW
If there was an MVP of Sunday afternoon, this might have been it.
Henley rolled in birdie putts on 16, 17 and 18 to force a playoff, then converted another birdie on the first extra hole to secure the trophy. Four consecutive birdies under maximum pressure turned a strong week into a victory.
Golf Ball
Titleist Pro V1x – SHOP NOW
Henley has long preferred the Pro V1x for its combination of stability, iron control and greenside spin. The ball’s consistency played a key role during a week when every shot mattered.
