UPDATE: Wyndham Clark Has Tweaked His U.S. Open-Winning Bag
Wyndham Clark’s equipment setup helped him win the 2026 U.S. Open, but apparently even a major championship-winning bag can use a little tinkering. Since his victory at Shinnecock Hills, Clark has made some notable changes to the top end of his setup—and then promptly put the new configuration to work by winning the BMW Championship.
The biggest change is the addition of a Ping G440 Max 5-wood at 18 degrees, giving Clark another high-launching option between his driver and long irons. At the U.S. Open, that spot was occupied by a Titleist T200 3-iron. His 3-wood remains a Ping G440 Max, but Clark has paired it with a new Project X Titan Black 80 TX shaft.
The driver is also the same TaylorMade Qi4D, but Clark has moved from a 9-degree head adjusted down to 8.25 degrees at the U.S. Open to an 8-degree Qi4D. The shaft remains a Project X Titan Yellow 60 TX. His new 5-wood gets a Project X HZRDUS Black 90 TX shaft.
So, while Clark hasn’t exactly emptied the equipment truck and started from scratch, he’s clearly fine-tuned the long end of his bag. And there’s a pretty good reason to pay attention: the first time we saw this updated setup in competition, Clark went out and won the BMW Championship.

Driver

As an equipment free agent, Clark has the flexibility to choose whatever clubs perform best. His TaylorMade Qi4D driver delivered the combination of distance, forgiveness, and workability needed to handle Shinnecock’s demanding setup. He didn’t hit every drive where he wanted to, but neither did his peers last week. Tight, fast fairways and whipping crosswinds have a way of making players flinch just when they shouldn’t.
Fairway Wood

Clark relied heavily on his 3-wood throughout the week, particularly on holes where finding the fairway was more important than maximizing distance. And when he played it from the fairway, especially on the back nine on Saturday, he hit some of the prettiest fades you’ll ever see.

Instead of carrying a 5-wood, Clark opted for a T200 3-iron. The driving iron produced a lower, more penetrating ball flight that proved ideal for navigating Shinnecock’s firm fairways and ever-present winds. It’s exactly the type of club you’d expect to find in the bag of a U.S. Open champion.

Around the greens, Clark relied on a four-wedge setup that gave him plenty of options from every distance and lie. That versatility was especially valuable around Shinnecock’s tightly mown runoffs and challenging green complexes. If you’ve got good hands and touch from tight lies, give the 60-L bounce a try. It worked perfectly for Wyndham as he pulled off some miraculous short shots throughout the week.
Putter

If there was one club that defined Clark’s recent surge, it’s this one.
Since putting the Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset in play earlier this season, Clark has become one of the Tour’s best putters. The club helped fuel his victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson (he fired a 60 on Sunday to win going away) and continued to perform when the stakes were highest at Shinnecock Hills. Throughout the week, Clark repeatedly answered challenges with clutch par saves, momentum-building birdies, and the type of confidence on the greens that separates major champions from everyone else. On Sunday, when his World #1 playing partner was missing everything, Clark was making just enough putts, including a brilliant putt on 16, to win the tourney by 1 over Sam Burns.
It’s not often a single club changes the trajectory of a season, but that’s exactly what appears to have happened here.
