What’s In The Bag: Wyndham Clark’s Winning Setup at the 2026 U.S. Open

A lot has changed for Wyndham Clark in a few short months.

Earlier this season, after searching for answers on the greens, Clark put a Ping Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset putter in play at the Texas Children’s Houston Open. The change immediately paid dividends. Not long after, he captured the CJ Cup Byron Nelson while setting a PGA Tour record in Strokes Gained: Putting, gaining more than 12 shots on the field with the flatstick. The results were so impressive that Ping signed Clark to the company’s first putter-only endorsement agreement in more than 50 years.

Fast forward to Shinnecock Hills, and Clark is no longer simply a former U.S. Open champion trying to rediscover his game. He’s one of the hottest golfers on the planet. With victories at the Byron Nelson and now the U.S. Open, Clark has quickly emerged as one of the favorites heading into next month’s Open Championship. He’s also making a strong case for a spot on the 2026 U.S. Presidents Cup team and appears well positioned to be part of the American squad that will head to Adare Manor in Ireland for the 2027 Ryder Cup.

That momentum continued at Shinnecock Hills, where Clark leaned on a carefully crafted equipment setup built for control, precision, and shot-making rather than sheer distance, something he has plenty of, but left in the bag at times at the Cock to play more in control.

The formula worked perfectly as he captured his second U.S. Open title and added another trophy to his growing collection.

Let’s take a look inside the bag.

Wyndham Clark’s Winning WITB – 2026 U.S. Open

Driver

TaylorMade Qi4D (10.5°)

  • Shaft: Project X Denali Yellow 60 TX

As an equipment free agent, Clark has the flexibility to choose whatever clubs perform best. His TaylorMade Qi4D driver delivered the combination of distance, forgiveness, and workability needed to handle Shinnecock’s demanding setup. He didn’t hit every drive where he wanted to, but neither did his peers last week. Tight, fast fairways and whipping crosswinds have a way of making players flinch just when they shouldn’t.

Fairway Wood

TaylorMade Qi4D Tour 3-Wood (15°)

  • Shaft: Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 80 TX

Clark relied heavily on his 3-wood throughout the week, particularly on holes where finding the fairway was more important than maximizing distance. And when he played it from the fairway, especially on the back nine on Saturday, he hit some of the prettiest fades you’ll ever see.

Utility Iron

Titleist T200 3-Iron

  • Shaft: True Temper Dynamic Gold X7

Instead of carrying a 5-wood, Clark opted for a T200 3-iron. The driving iron produced a lower, more penetrating ball flight that proved ideal for navigating Shinnecock’s firm fairways and ever-present winds. It’s exactly the type of club you’d expect to find in the bag of a U.S. Open champion.

Irons

Titleist T200 (4-5 Iron)

Titleist T100 (6-9 Iron)

  • Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold X7

Clark continues to favor a blended iron setup. The T200 long irons provide added speed and forgiveness, while the T100 scoring irons offer the precision and consistency required under major championship pressure.

Wedges

Titleist Vokey SM11

  • 44-10F
  • 50-12F
  • 54-14F

Titleist Vokey WedgeWorks

  • 60-L
  • Shafts: Dynamic Gold X7 and Tour Issue S400

Around the greens, Clark relied on a four-wedge setup that gave him plenty of options from every distance and lie. That versatility was especially valuable around Shinnecock’s tightly mown runoffs and challenging green complexes. If you’ve got good hands and touch from tight lies, give the 60-L bounce a try. It worked perfectly for Wyndham as he pulled off some miraculous short shots throughout the week.

Putter

Ping Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset

If there was one club that defined Clark’s recent surge, it’s this one.

Since putting the Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset in play earlier this season, Clark has become one of the Tour’s best putters. The club helped fuel his victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson (he fired a 60 on Sunday to win going away) and continued to perform when the stakes were highest at Shinnecock Hills. Throughout the week, Clark repeatedly answered challenges with clutch par saves, momentum-building birdies, and the type of confidence on the greens that separates major champions from everyone else. On Sunday, when his World #1 playing partner was missing everything, Clark was making just enough putts, including a brilliant putt on 16, to win the tourney by 1 over Sam Burns.

It’s not often a single club changes the trajectory of a season, but that’s exactly what appears to have happened here.

Golf Ball

Titleist Pro V1x

Clark continues to trust the Titleist Pro V1x, one of the most popular golf balls on Tour thanks to its combination of speed, consistency, and greenside control.aps the first of many to come.
