Brothers Matt, Alex Fitzpatrick win PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic

– by ESPN News Service

Per ESPN: “It was a fantastic finish for the Fitzpatrick family — a mother and father beaming along the 18th green at TPC Louisiana as their sons celebrated a PGA Tour triumph together…”

B&B POV: Bound by blood and belief, brothers Matt (31) and Alex (27) Fitzpatrick weathered crazy pressure and nervy mistakes before sharing a final, unforgettable moment—one perfect shot (Matt), one tap-in (Alex), and a lifelong dream realized together on golf’s grandest stage.

With the team win, Alex earned his PGA TOUR card and spots in the next wave of Signature events. And Matt has squarely established himself into 3rd position for top player in the world. What an amazing TV moment and story that played out yesterday.

Nelly Korda wins Chevron Championship for third major and returns to No. 1

– by the Associated Press / Golf Channel

Per The AP: “Nelly Korda won The Chevron Championship on Sunday with a performance worthy of her return to No. 1 in women’s golf…”

B&B POV: Look out, ladies: Nelly Korda is on a heater. Yesterday she won the Chevron Championship, her third career major championship, and 2nd LPGA title this season.

Her finishes so far in 2026: 1st, T-2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 1st. She’s played 19 rounds with 13 of those in the 60’s and only two rounds over-par. She’s averaging 283 yards off the tee, good for 5th, and hitting 79% of greens in regulation, good for 2nd. To be picky, she’s an above-average putter, but right now, that’s good enough for her to rack up wins, trophies, and plenty of $$$.

Winners, Losers, and Payouts: 2026 Zurich Classic of New Orleans

– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys

Per Thomas: This event has always been different, and in a good way—two-man teams, shifting formats, and just enough chaos to make even elite players look human.

In 2026, it gave us something better than different. It gave us something personal. Brothers competing together, with a ton on the line, and delivering.

Alex Fitzpatrick, thanks to some timely shots from his all-world older brother Matt, won the team event, along with a cool trophy, $1.37 million, and a guaranteed spot on the biggest pro circuit in the world through the 2028 season…

Winners’ Bags: Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick, 2026 Zurich Classic

– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys

Per Thomas: Before gear free agents and brothers Matt Fitzpatrick and Alex Fitzpatrick became the first siblings to win the Zurich Classic, they arrived with very different statistical profiles—ones that, together, made them uniquely dangerous.

Jim Furyk named United States captain for 2027 Ryder Cup after Tiger Woods turned down role

– by Reuters / Flashscore

Per Reuters: “Jim Furyk, a 17-time winner on the PGA Tour, was named on Friday as the US team captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Ireland after Tiger Woods declined the role following his ‌arrest on a driving under the influence charge…”

B&B POV: Furyk is not a bad choice, but he’s certainly not an inspired choice. Had Tiger not popped too many pills and flipped his SUV, he likely would have been named the captain of the US side. Now Furyk will do all he can to win back the Cup in Ireland next year.

We would love to see Justin Leonard, Stewart Sink, Gary Woodland, and Jordan Spieth (sadly, we just don’t see him making any future teams) named Vice Captains for ‘27 to prep them for potential captaincy on home soil in ‘29. Spieth would make for the most intriguing choice, and right now, intriguing—and hopefully effective—is what the US needs.
