Rose sets tournament record in dominant win – highlights

– by BBC Sport

Per BBC: “England’s Justin Rose clinched an utterly dominant win at the Farmers Insurance Open in a new tournament record score…”

B&B POV: At 45, Justin Rose is playing the best golf of his career. In ’25, he lost in a Masters’ playoff and bagged a FedEx playoff win. Then went on to boss the US squad in the Ryder Cup. Yesterday, he won Torrey by 7 and moved up to #3 in the OWGR. And to top it off, he’s a class act that all golfers, young and old, should look up to. Congrats Rosey.

Nelly Korda wins LPGA TOC, which had drama for all the wrong reasons

– by Beth Ann Nichols / Golfweek

Per Beth: “Nelly Korda won the first tournament of the 2026 season, ending a year-plus drought, but that wasn’t the main storyline coming out of Lake Nona…”

B&B POV: Yesterday, in Orange County, FL (picture Disney World), temperatures at 9a were in the 30’s. At the same time, in Orange County, CA (picture Disneyland), temperatures were in the low 70’s.

Sunday, the LPGA called off its attempt to play the final round of its Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona because the ground in some areas was still frozen. Should they have played later in the day? Should they have done everything they could to have finished all 72 holes, even if it meant playing some on Sunday and some on Monday? There is still a debate going on right now. But all for not. Nelly Korda was awarded earned the 54-hole tournament victory after posting a stellar 64 on Saturday, her first win on tour in over a year.

What’s in the Bag (WITB): Justin Rose, 2026 Edition

– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys

Per Thomas: “Justin Rose, yesterday’s emphatic winner of the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey, has long been an equipment free agent. It makes sense for him to be. He’s generationally wealthy and doesn’t need to carry an equipment contract to pay his travel expenses…”
