B&B POV: Eldrick will always be the PGA TOUR’s only Tiger. Scottie Scheffler may go down as the tour’s only mountain lion. Mountain lions don’t chase chaos. They stalk, they wait, and when they move—it’s decisive. That’s Scheffler to a tee. He doesn’t need fist pumps or fire; he exerts control through patience, precision, and cold-blooded consistency. Winning the 153rd British Open by 4 at Royal Portrush seemed almost inevitable, especially with his strongest prey foes never making a Sunday charge.
Keegan Bradley Confirms Bryson DeChambeau Will Be on U.S. Ryder Cup Team

B&B POV: This may be the biggest ‘no duh’ story of the weekend coming out of Portrush, Ireland. Place your bets today: Bryson is going to be hitting massive rippers for Team USA at Bethpage, and Keegan is going to play 2-3 matches (out of a possible five). Bryson and Keegan will be difference makers for the U.S. squad, even with Captain Keegan pulling double duties. I hope Netflix is in his back pocket, starting a month out of the event. We want to watch all the BTS drama.

Per Thomas: Scottie’s gear set-up for the Open Championship only saw one change up compared to what he played with and won at the PGA Championship earlier this year. He dropped a TaylorMade 21-degree 7-wood (his sponsor’s model) and replaced it with a hot-as-heck strong Srixon ZU85 3+ iron with a hybrid shaft (a very popular club last week).

Per Thomas: Scottie Scheffler doesn’t roar. He doesn’t flex. He doesn’t even really smile all that much. But once again on Sunday, he stalked his prey, pounced at just the right moment, and casually walked away with another major trophy—this time, the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush, winning by four shots at 17-under-par. And for good measure, he also pocketed a cool $3.1 million and a hallowed trophy that has its own name.

B&B POV: Not all golf fans love Rory McIlroy. However, all golf fans in Northern Ireland do, and they came out to the Open Championship in hordes to root on Rory and bestie Shane Lowry. Neither won, but they did provide the fans with plenty of awe-inspiring moments and memories. Like the competitive dynamic of Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods before them, Rory is the new Phil, and Scottie Scheffler is the new Tiger. As talented as Rory is today, he’ll be playing for scraps when Scottie plays like he did last week.
