B&B POV: At only 20 years old and change, cherubic South African bomber Aldrich Potgieter won a 3-hole PGA TOUR playoff yesterday just outside of downtown Detroit. He posted a 10-under 62 Thursday and closed the deal Sunday. “Hello world. You can call me Al!”

B&B POV: Would Tiger make a good commissioner? Probably. Even with his vast experience and smarts, which would set him and the tour up for success if he were to become commish, he won’t be raising his hand for that job, especially if he can slow down his cadence of physical ailments. Sure, we know that is asking a lot.
He’ll have a PGA TOUR Champions golf cart with his name on it at every tournament on that circuit next season. And Bernhard’s 12 senior majors record will be in play for the GOAT to try and tackle.

Per Thomas: Just learning about the gear set-up that Aldrich Potgieter used to win the Rocket Classic makes my back hurt. He uses big-boy tools. The Titleist man’s shafts match his prodigious length and blistering club head speed.
Aldrich doesn’t look like an athlete at first glance. But don’t kid yourself: this kid is a big-A ripper and can out-muscle courses, just like he did in Detroit to win his first PGA TOUR title.

Per Thomas: Forty-year-old tour vet Chris Kirk nearly snared his 7th career victory yesterday, but it wasn’t meant to be, thanks to Al Potgieter, the kid from South Africa.
Aldrich Potgieter went full rocket man kid at the 2025 Rocket Mortgage Classic, capturing his first PGA Tour win and a giant novelty check for $1.7 million. That’s right — this guy can’t legally sip champagne at a Vegas casino, but he can take down a tour field after 77 hard-fought holes of golf (regulation + 5 playoff holes against Kirk and “Mr. Runner-up,” Max Greyserman.
Padraig Harrington outlasts Stewart Cink and Miguel Angel Jimenez to win U.S. Senior Open
