Matt Fitzpatrick beats Rory McIlroy in playoff to win 3rd DP World Tour Championship title

– by Cameron Jourdan / Golfweek

Per Cameron: “It took an extra hole, but Matt Fitzpatrick has won the DP World Tour Championship for a third time…”

B&B POV: The best way to end your professional season is always to lift a Big A trophy in front of F&F. And winning a big one is icing on the proverbial ‘getting richer quicker’ cake. Congrats to Matt “Fitzy” Fitzpatrick for holding off Rory McIlroy in the DP World Tour Championship, besting him in a one-hole playoff. He also nipped four others, including Tommy Fleetwood and the big Swede, Ludvig Aberg, by a single shot in regulation. We’re banking on Fitzpatrick thoroughly enjoying his holidays and coming out on fire when next year’s season kicks off in January.

Does the future of PGA Tour Champions hinge on Tiger Woods? We asked around

– by Adam Schupak / Golfweek

Per Adam: “Is Tiger Woods ready to say, “Hello world,” at 50 and do for PGA Tour Champions in 2026 what Jack Nicklaus and Lee Trevino did for senior golf in 1990?…”

B&B POV: Any discussion of Tiger Woods competing in a professional golf tournament seems sadly farcical at this point. His injuries continue to mount. He turns 50 in 13 days. The right leg he was born with has long since faded from memory.

Do we want to see him tee it up on the 50+ circuit? Oh hell yes. Would it be amazing to see him resurrect his career the way Freddy did while dealing with debilitating back ails? For sure. Would we bet on it today? No. Tomorrow? Maybe. Will he always be our GOAT? Guaranteed.

Rory McIlroy’s playoff loss doesn’t detract from a remarkable season, capped off by his seventh Race to Dubai crown

– by Evin Priest / Golf Digest

Per Evin: “Rory McIlroy first teed up in 2025 at the Dubai Desert Classic in January. What happened between that T-4 and a playoff loss at the DP World Tour Championship on Sunday will go down in the record books…”

B&B POV: Rory couldn’t close the deal yesterday, but he closed plenty in 2025. What a year! At 36, he seems to be getting better. How in the heck is he pulling that off? By the time his career ends, he will soundly be included in the debate of who are the ‘Top 5 Golfers of All Time.’ And, he’ll become the 2nd billionaire professional golfer. Bank it!

Adam Schenk survives wild winds for 1st PGA Tour victory at Butterfield Bermuda Championship

– by Cameron Jourdan / Golfweek

Per Cameron: “Adam Schenk’s creativity was on full display down the stretch…”

B&B POV: While most professional golf stars were either vacationing or teeing it up in Dubai, Adam Schenk and his peer PGA TOUR journeymen were competing for FedExCup Fall glory in windswept Bermuda, vying for much-needed FedEx points to keep their cards for the 2026 season. Schenk skipped the points stress by winning in Bermuda. Perseverance helped Schenk pocket $1M+ and guaranteed spots in some of golf’s most important events in ’26.

Winners, Losers & Payouts from the 2025 DP World Tour Championship

– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys

Per Thomas:The Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates challenged some of the world’s finest players last week, especially on Sunday. What unfolded was a dramatic final round featuring a flawless charge from Matt Fitzpatrick, a late stumble and recovery from Rory McIlroy, and leaderboard shuffles that told the story of a  DP World Tour season finale worthy of its stage.
