Tiger Woods is arguably the best golfer of all time. And when he was playing his best, Butch Harmon was his coach. He’s also coached the likes of Phil Mickelson, DJ, and BDR, to name drop a few.
Per Butch, here are some swing thoughts to drill on the range and take to the course if you want to hit your tee shots like a pro (or, at least better, for you average Joe’s).
- During your backswing, swing the clubhead low, long, and wide
- Let your wrists cock naturally as your hands near the height of your back shoulder (there is massive power stored up in cocked wrists)
- Keep turning your shoulders more than your hips (positive resistance)
- Through impact, your right arm (for righties) should extend as far as it can down your body lines (just left of the target line)
- Stay balanced, and let it rip
Butch is on the Mount Rushmore of all-time golf instructors. In the video below he shares his top tips to hit longer drives, otherwise known as “hitting rippers.”
Whether you want to hit ’em or rip ’em, follow Butch’s tips to the T. He’s coached ten of thousands of lessons and made tens of millions of dollars giving them.
He’s a golf coach savant.
Watch. Practice. Play.
Thanks for sharing Butch. And nice hair Van Pelt!
