In the video below, GolfPass coach Eric Cogorno shares common sense tips to help golfers of all skill levels improve their driver takeaways to help increase consistency and distance off the tee.
We’ve added a couple of additional swing thoughts in the summary below which work for us.
Remember, keep it simple!
- While staying as centered as possible during your takeaway, feel like you are shifting your weight back onto your trail leg. Your weight should feel like it’s distributed 70/30 (back/front) at the top of the backswing
- Create pronounced width on your takeaway. Feel like your hands are extending as far as they can until you reach the 3/4 mark of your backswing
- While maintaining a smooth and powerful downswing, feel like you are fully releasing the driver head through impact
- Maintain consistent and light to medium-light grip pressure throughout the swing
Watch Eric’s video, hit the practice tee for a few weeks, and then take what you’ve grooved out the course.
Enjoy the increase in distance.
