And why is being proficient at lag putting important? Because the closer you leave your 1st putt, the greater your chance is at making the all-important 2nd putt.
Some stats to drill home our point:
PGA TOUR professionals — the fancy pant-wearing guys who play on TV — make on average 99% of the 2-foot putts they take; 96% of their 3-foot putts; 88% of 4-footers; and 77% of 5-foot putts. For us Average Joes, we will make 15-25% fewer putts at each mark. So work on your lag putting!
