Scottie Scheffler absolutely spanked the field at the Hero World Challenge on Sunday, tearing up the course with a filthy bogey-free 9-under 63. Winner, winner. He didn’t just beat the competition—he left Tom Kim and 18 others questioning their career choices.
It’s his ninth win this year, and at this rate, just like the goats of sport that came before him, he will need a museum to house all his hardware and hallowed memorabilia.
Scheffler pocketed a cool $1 million from the $5 million purse, getting paid to flex on everyone else. The rest of the 20-man field didn’t go home broke, but let’s be honest—most of them were just there to enjoy the Baha Mar vacay and watch Scottie put on a Sunday clinic. Popcorn included.
Sundays Movers & Losers:
- JT was in position Sunday AM to win a golf tourney. Something he hasn’t done in a long time. But his putting and corresponding confidence failed him. Even if he had putted well, he would have had an exceptionally hard time besting the Texas robot. But it sure would have been nice for his ego heading into an all-important Ryder Cup year.
- Baby-faced Nick Dunlap shart the bed on Sunday, positing a 4-over 76, the highest score of the day. If he fires 4-under vs. 4-over, he would have pocketed an extra $100k.
- Scheff shot the lowest score of the day Sunday, 9-under 63. 👀 Next up was Ludvig Aberg with a 67. He leaped a couple of peers, which only netted an additional $40k or so in take-home cash, but the confidence he surely flew home with to the states will pay off in spades come January when the ’25 season kicks off in Maui.
