PAYDAY! 2024 RBC Canadian Open Prize Money Payouts

The big PGA TOUR paydays kick back off this week at the Memorial, followed quickly by the US Open to be played at Pinehurst. Yet, I’m sure Bobby Mac isn’t fuming over only pocketing $1.692M for his win yesterday in the RBC Canadian Open.

Certainly he’s got a solid accountant (most, if not all professional golfers better) to navigate his current income scenario: He’s Scottish, plays on the PGA TOUR which is based in Florida, and just won a boatload of cheese in a tourney held in Canada. How many governments are getting a cut out of his oversized check?

MacIntrye more than doubled what he had made in his previous 15 PGA TOUR starts with his win Sunday. That’ll kickstart some hefty confidence. He’s a solid player who now has the chance to ride the wave of bigger event purses and pocket generational wealth before year’s end. His newly updated season-long goals should include playing well in the final two majors and making the Tour Championship. The riches that come with that level of success can be astounding.

McIlroy continues to bank huge checks. He finished 4th in Canada last week (after winning in 2023) and took home $423,000 for his efforts. For the year he’s now sitting at $7.4M earned and 3rd in the FedEx Cup standings with two wins under his belt. The biggest challenge sitting in front of him is whether he will win his 5th overall major later this summer. Time will tell.

Tommy Fleetwood, last year’s runner-up, flamed out on Sunday posting a 2-over par 72, finishing up T-21. He was positioned Sunday AM to make a charge but made a double right out of the gate. Our take: he doesn’t give a shi* that he lost out on a good chunk of change with a bad final round. He’s likely fuming because he was in a position to make a charge and possibly win on Sunday which would have been his redemption for losing in the playoff in last year’s Canadian Open. Next time Tommy!
