Maverick McNealy finally earned some hardware to match his golf game! He clinched his first-ever PGA Tour title by winning the 2024 RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club. He nailed a birdie on his final hole to outlast Daniel Berger, Nico Echavarria, and amateur Luke Clanton (how good is this guy???) by just one shot. Talk about a dramatic finish! The 29-year-old Stanford alum kept his cool, firing a 2-under 68 in the final round to seal the deal.
The perks? Oh, just a cool $1.38M, a two-year PGA Tour exemption through the ’26 season, an invite to kick off 2025 at The Sentry, and a Thursday tee-time at ANGC in April. Not bad for a weekend’s work!
Sundays Movers & Losers
- Had amateur Luke Clanton teed it up as a pro this week he would have netted around $550k for finishing T-2 with Nico Echavarria and Daniel Berger. You see, ams can’t earn greenbacks on tour. In fact, had he played his entire shortened season as pro versus an amateur he would have netted easily $2,000,000 considering he played in eight events, made seven cuts, secured four top-10 finishes, and came up just short twice, finishing in 2nd place. As an amateur. Damn…
- Without a doubt the biggest mover on Sunday was Joel Dahmen who turned in a bogey-free, 6-under-par 64 to finish the tourney in T-35 position. His stellar last round ensured he kept his tour card for 2025, finishing 124th in FedEx Cup points, with everyone finishing 125 or better keeping their cards. Big balls Dahmen.
- Eric Cole leapt 27 places with his 7-under, 63 final round. For his efforts he pocketed $142k versus the $27k he would have won had he held serve further down the leaderboard.
- Steven Fisk had himself a rough Sunday shooting a 3-over par 73, dropping 37 spots on the leaderboard. The 73 tied Lanto Griffin for the worst round of the day.
- What do Zac Blair, Hayden Springer, Wesley Bryan, Michael Thorbjornsen, and S.H. Kim have in common? They each barely missed out on keeping their tour cards for the ’25 season. Had Michael T. shot 2-3 shots lower Sunday, he would have kept his card. He painfully missed out.
