Kirk pocketed $3.6M out of the $20M purse. That’s a lot of cheese and 2x more than what he’s pocketed for any of his previous five tour wins. In total three players (Kirk, Sahith and Spieth) earned more than $1,000,000, with a 4th, Ben An, flying home with just under seven figures in his duffel bag.
Since The Sentry was a PGA TOUR Signature event, there was no cut and lots of cash to be earned for the 59 players who teed it up. Vincent Norrman shamefully made only $50,000 for finishing DFL. I hope he can afford to put food on his 16-foot table.
It’s great to see the PGA TOUR paying out bigger purses. Hopefully, the PGA TOUR/LIV formal agreement will come together in 2024, so that moving forward the best players in the world are playing against each other for even more cash. And not just in the Majors.
