The 2024 PGA TOUR’s Fall Series World Wide Technology Championship featured a weaker field and one of the smallest purses of the season. It’s just that time of year. Most players playing in the Fall Series are doing everything they can to accrue enough points to secure their cards for 2025; those who finish top 10 in points in the Fall Series will earn spots in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis. The 2nd and 3rd Signature events of the 2025 season.
Champion Austin Eckroat didn’t need to play in Mexico. You see, he had already secured Top 50 FedEx Cup status earlier this year and a spot in the Masters. So why did he play? Likely because of a sponsor’s commitment or because he wanted to keep his game sharp during the offseason. His game was emphatically sharp enough last week to earn him $1.3M and a ton of confidence heading into ’25.
Sunday’s Movers & Losers in Mexico
- Garrett Higgo’s final round, 8-under 64 helped him leap 24 spots on the leaderboard where he finished T6. He took home $219,600. If he’d only maintained his pace, he would have pocketed $160k less. Nice job Garrett!
- Harry Hall and Harris English both jumped 16 spots with final round 66’s to finish T-14, each picking up an additional $60k.
- Ex-Ryder Cupper Daniel Berger was in position again to finish Top-10 in the fall but fell 11 spots after failing to break 70 like most in the field did Sunday. Daniel is fighting for his card and now periously sits 124th in points. He needs to finish strong in the final two events to maintain his top 125 position.
- Tom Hoge tied for the worst score on Sunday—3-over par 75—and fell 36 spots. Ouch.
- Adam Shenk didn’t get to shank it on Sunday because he missed the cut by 1.
