Nico Echavarria just bagged his second PGA Tour win — and made it one to remember!
The 30-year-old Colombian birdied the 72nd hole to clinch the 2024 Zozo Championship, squeezing past Justin Thomas and Max Greyserman by a single shot at Accordia Golf Narashino C.C. Echavarria strutted into Sunday with a two-shot lead (thanks to an eagle finale on Saturday), then held off the future hall-of-famer and recent king of the runner-ups for win No. 2.
He didn’t just win; he set a tournament scoring record, finishing at a blistering 20 under, besting the Big Cat’s record. His reward? A cool $1.53 million. JT and Greyserman, meanwhile, split second place, each pocketing $748,000.
Sunday’s Movers & Losers:
- Rickie. Moving on up!!! His confidence. Against the field, he actually didn’t move at all on Sunday. He started the final round in 4th and ended in solo 4th. In our book, considering he’s played below-average golf for 12 mos, an indy 4th place finish in Zozo, which featured the best field in the PGA TOUR Fall Series to date, is a big win for Rickie the Rizz.
- American J.J. Spaun, Japanese Yuta Sugiura, and Korean Si Wook Kim all jumped 10 spots on Sunday after firing final round 64s. Boom. $$$
- Ben Griffin jumped 29 spots into T-22 with a final round 64. His move earned him an extra $50k.
- The biggest loser on Sunday was S.H. Kim who limped home with a 3-over, 73. He fell 30 spots on the board. Ouch.
