PGA Coach Jackie Riegle Shares Her Tips to Hit Solid Downhill Bunker Shots

Jackie Riegle, one of our favorite SoCal instructors and periodic B&B contributor, shares the BEST tips to hit solid downhill greenside bunker shots.

As easy as Jackie makes it look to hit downhill bunker shots, she makes it even easier to understand her tips and put them into practice. That’s why Jackie is one of the best.

Our biggest keys to hitting this type of shot solid: 80% of your weight needs to be on the furthest downhill foot and make sure to hold the face open as you slide the club under the ball with speed. Fight the urge to decelerate. You may have de-lofted your 60-degree wedge, but you still need to make an aggressive swing and splash the sand.
