Rory defends Canadian Open; PGA TOUR puts on a premier show for fans across the world

Rory, Finau, JT, Rosey and newly-minted superstar Sam Burns emphatically earned their winnings on Sunday at St. George’s Golf & CC.

And the young man (still only 34) from Northern Ireland came out on top.

Rory has a lot of fans in Canada and his 62 on Sunday got them all hot and bothered, in the best way possible with clothes on.

The top-5 finishers on Sunday in the Canadian Open shot 62, 64, 64, 60, and 65, respectively.

And each score was made by someone who didn’t play in the Saudi LIV Invitational 54-hole farce played in London over the weekend. But you know who did play in London? Current world-beater Andy Ogletree.

Andy pocketed $120k after shooting +24. I’m thinking about submitting my name for the Portland LIV Open to be played in July. I too can shoot +24.

That just isn’t close to good golf no matter what the conditions were, course set-up, nursing a well-earned hangover, whatever the excuses.

Back to St. Georges. Rory played spectacularly on the weekend. And during his post-victory interview with CBS’s Amanda Balionis on the 18th green, he talked about his rekindled motivations and effort to get back to winning more regularly on TOUR (PGA, not SAUDI).

He also threw shade at/mocked Greg Norman, referencing how he had just won his 21st PGA TOUR victory, one more than the Great White Shark.

Hey Greg, F-U…

You can tell that guys like Rory and JT are taking the PGA TOUR vs LIV TOUR debate personally. And the tension is only going to be more palpable this week at the US Open when 14 of the 48 LIV event players will be teeing it up at Brookline.

It’s a weird time right now for golf. But for Rory, he showed us the kind of champion he is while also swinging his verbal sword around like a swashbuckling Zoro out to spear himself a slimey Shark.

If you missed the action on Sunday, there was a lot of this:

Limber and longgggggg!
