Yesterday, Nelly Korda won The Annika, her 7th LPGA Tour victory of the season.
What can we all learn from her swing that we can take out to the course?
- She doesn’t lock her head in place. Her head moves back during her backswing a few inches, and as her club moves through impact her head, actually moves further back slightly and then moves past where her head started pre-swing. Her head is moving!
- She swings the club HARD. But not during her backswing. She loads at the top and then let’s it loose.
- She is an athlete. If you want to improve your all-around game you need to improve your mind and body. More strength = more speed with less effort. Better stamina and cardio = less tension and better concentration. All-around health improvement = more confidence, from tee-to-green especially under pressure.
- Nail your fundamentals. Set-up, check. Alignment, check. Grip that matches your swing, check. Head position and proper tilt from the waste, while hitting rippers down to sinking 3-footers, check, check, triple check.
