The 2025 Farmers Insurance Open Winners & Losers

Harris English is finally back in the winner’s circle after a nearly four-year dry spell. The 35-year-old’s triumphant return to the top came on Saturday at the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open, just a few years post-hip surgery. Ouch!

It’s safe to say he’s officially shaken off the rust. Sam Stevens made a valiant push with a 4-under 68 on Saturday—the best round of the day and possibly thebest round of the young season so far—but still had to settle for second place.

For his victory, English is now $1.67 million richer. Guess that’ll help cover a few rounds of drinks and whatever else his heart desires.

Winners & Losers from Saturday’s Final Round at Torrey:

  1. Loser: PGA TOUR – where were all the stars? TV viewership had to suffer greatly. At least when the Genesis is played at Torrey in a few weeks, there’s almost a guarantee more household names will be contending on the back nine come Sunday.
  2. Winner: Sam Stevens – his 2nd place finish came out of nowhere thanks to a 4-under, round-of-the-day Sunday finish. How about that million-dollar payout? Nice. Very nice!
  3. Winner: Lee Hodges – the journeyman jumped 32 spots on the leaderboard Sunday thanks to a 2-under par final round, finishing up T-9 and banking $225k.
  4. Loser: Ludvig – he fired a final round 79. When was the last time he shot that number? Junior high?
  5. Loser: Noah Goodwin – after firing a final round 81, he dropped 38 places to finish T-63. He was in position Saturday morning to make a big move and pick up much needed FedEx points. instead, he and his game spent too much time roaming the porta potties, and it cost him greatly.
