What’s in the Bag (WITB): Ryan Fox, 2025 Edition

Like Hideki and Shane Lowry, Canadian Open victor Ryan Fox is a Srixon/Cleveland man. There aren’t too many on tour, but those playing Srixon right now are playing good golf and getting plenty of TV broadcast time, which has to be helping Srixon sell drivers and tons of shiny white pearlies.

Foxy — as we like to call him and assume his friends do, too, because that nickname rolls off the tongue — is good at golf, and his gear set-up is on point right now.

Key WITB takeaways:

  1. With his 10.5-degree Srixon ZXi driver, Foxy hits the ball a mile. He consistently ranks near the top in ball speed and driving distance on both the DP World Tour and PGA Tour. When he’s dialed in off the tee, courses get a whole lot shorter, and he displayed that prowess in Canada last week.
  2. Fox teed it up with a 2-iron. Nice. Most players no longer dip below a 4-iron, opting more often for a 5/7 wood. Not Foxy, he put into a play his trusty ZXiU, which, like in Canada, will also come in handy when he tees it up at Royal Portrush in The Open Championship in July.
  3. He played three different models of irons, four if you also count his wedges. This is now the standard set-up on tour. Pros NEVER play less than three models. Long irons, model #1. Mid-irons, model #2. Wedges, model #3, and sometimes models #3 and #4.
  4. No Vokey Wedges. He must really like the size of the endorsement checks he cashes from Cleveland. 80% of all players on tour use Vokey wedges, even those who are paid to play other manufacturers’ gear.
  5. He tees it up with Srixon Z-Star XV balls. Srixon makes a good ball (multiple pro-level options). Give Srixon a try.
