“Winners win. And that’s what winners do!” said TaylorMade’s ambassador program lead after watching their boy Scottie Scheffler rack up win #6 on tour this year at the Procure in Nor Cal. (NOTE: We have no idea what TaylorMade said. But we do know they continue to be happy with how well their star ambassador is playing with their equipment.)
Scheffler’s gear set-up last week mirrored what he played with when he won the British Open in July. Instead of playing with a 7-wood, which he did for a few of his victories this season, he teed it up once again with a hotter-than-hot Srixon ZU85 3+ iron with a hybrid shaft. Silverado was playing tight and firm, and Scheffler turned to the 3-iron to keep it in the fairway when a driver or 3-wood just didn’t fit his eye and strategy.
But stop the press!
There was one small change in his set-up since we wrote about it last.
He replaced his trusty lob wedge for a Titleist Vokey Design SM9 Tour (60) model. That’s it. Everything else stayed the same.
How weird. You would think he would be replacing clubs left and right since he’s only won six times this season. 🙂
