Candidly, we thought Jason Day was still a member of Team TaylorMade. But when we saw him tee it up at the Byron with a Ping driver, roll in Bridgestone balls, and hit majestic pitches and chips and dead-handed floppers with his Vokeys (shocked!), we knew then he was an equipment free agent.
Notes:
- Including his ball, he carries golf gear manufactured by four brands in his bag.
- He’s a 5-wood guy. At least he was last week in the whipped butter-soft conditions.
- He plays with some exotic shafts throughout his bag. If you want to purchase his gear, just know you’ll be waiting a few extra weeks.
- He still looks great in his Nike gear. The company maybe didn’t get their monies worth the last few years while Day struggled to regain his star-caliber game, but he’s back now; and the shoes he was wearing Sunday look like they need to be purchased ASAP and added to my golf closet.
