Rory Wins Masters

Rory McIlroy finally realizes Masters dream, and it’s grander than anyone could’ve ever imagined

– by Brentley Romine / NBC Sports Golf

Per Brentley: “Augusta National Golf Club had once again brought Rory McIlroy to his knees.

After easily the most emotionally draining day of his Masters career, McIlroy had nothing left. Doubled over, his elbows firmly planted into the bentgrass turf, head buried for what seemed like forever, McIlroy finally uncurled back to his knees and with fists clenched screamed toward the sky, a decade-plus of emotion pouring out of him…”

B&B POV: Rory tried to lose the 2025 Masters numerous times on Sunday. Even more than how he tried losing his chance to don the green jacket on Thursday, which was spectacular in its own right. In fact, no other victor of the Masters has ever teetered the fine line between winning and losing more than Rory. But in the end, he was victorious. And for Rory, his friends, family, and millions of fans, it was a glorious moment when he prevailed over Ryder Cup teammate Justin Rose in the sudden-death playoff on 18. Wow, watching the 2025 Masters was emotional. For everyone watching. Especially for the Northern Irishman from Holywood.

Bryson DeChambeau: Rory McIlroy didn’t talk to me once all day

– by Tom Morgan / Yahoo! Sports

Per Tom: “Bryson DeChambeau has accused Rory McIlroy of refusing to talk to him throughout his final Masters round as their rivalry simmered at Augusta…”

B&B POV: The media asked Bryson Sunday about his on-course conversations with eventual champion Rory McIlroy. He quickly stated the two didn’t talk all day and inferred that it was by Rory’s choosing. Who knows? Maybe the Netflix cameras were recording the action, and Rory didn’t want to come across as crotchety. Or, he was soley focused on his play. Whatever the excuse, Rory didn’t care to talk to Bryson, and Bryson was hurt by this approach. Bryson did, however, congratulate Rory on socials this morning. Rory, however, put on a green jacket and likely didn’t give two hoots.

What’s in the Bag: Rory McIlroy, 2025 Masters

– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys

Per Thomas: Unlike a lot of players who tweaked and tuned their gear like mad scientists heading into the 2025 Masters, Rory McIlroy kept his equipment setup steady—because when you’re chasing history, maybe don’t go full tinkerer. Well, almost steady. The one notable change? McIlroy ditched the standard No. 1 play number on his TaylorMade TP5 ball and replaced it with “RORS.” A bold flex. And a good omen. Because RORS roared, finally snagging that elusive green jacket and completing the career Grand Slam with a playoff birdie over Justin Rose.

The 2025 Masters Winners & Losers

– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys

Per Thomas: At the onset of the ’25 Masters tourney, the players knew big money was to be won. But the money pocketed yesterday by everyone in the field—including those who missed the cut—was not what the participants were most focused on. They wanted to win a green jacket and become immortal Masters champions. But money does pay the bills and for his efforts, Rory took home $4.2M, leaving him at $104,246,906 earned over his career (#2 all-time behind the GOAT); runner-up Justin Rose took home $2.3M, leaving him at $68,933,517 for his career, good enough for 8th place all-time. Four players earned more than $1M in this year’s event, and 11 in total earned more than $500k. One green jacket was earned, but a lot of golfers padded their already-bloated bank accounts.

Tiger Woods, Hollywood stars amongst those to congratulate Rory McIlroy after Masters win

– by GolfWRX Staff

Per GolfWRX: “Rory McIlroy secured the career Grand Slam on Sunday evening, defeating Justin Rose in a playoff with a birdie after an enthralling day of action.

The moment brought an outpouring of emotion from McIlroy, as the weight of the world appeared to drop off his shoulders as he joined the immortals of the golfing world…”

B&B POV: Rory’s victory set off a firestorm of social congratulatory posts including from his mentor, Mr. Tiger Freakin’ Woods, the GOAT of Golf. Rory himself just posted to his socials: Dreams do come true.
Rory’s victory will be celebrated for quite a long time. It’s a big deal for him (Grand Slam) and a big deal for golf fans everywhere. Hopefully, we never have to hear about his Masters collapses again.
