Redemption moment for Ludvig Aberg at Genesis Invitational
– by Adam Schupak / Golfweek
Per Adam: “Walking down one of the final holes at Torrey Pines Golf Course, Ludvig Aberg turned to his caddie, Joe Skovron, and said, “This Sunday is a little bit more fun than the one we had at the Farmers…”
B&B POV: Aberg’s 3rd season on the PGA Tour kicked off 6-weeks ago. He’s already won twice on tour in his short career and has earned $17,756,652 in official prize money; he’s likely won a similar bounty off the course.
With his victory yesterday in the Genesis—played on Torrey Pines South in La Jolla vs. Hogan’s Alley in Pacific Palisades, its traditional home—he’s vaulted to #4 in the world. The fact that he is a star on tour is no surprise. With that, however, no one could have projected this level of success this fast. Top it off with the ladies love him. Adam Scott Part Deux.
Tiger Woods expects Trump talks to see LIV golfers back on PGA Tour in 2025
– by Ewan Murray / The Guardian
Per Ewan: “Tiger Woods has said LIV golfers could make a sensational return to the PGA Tour this year after the direct involvement of Donald Trump in the sport’s unification talks…”
B&B POV: If President Trump can’t get the PGA TOUR and LIV to come together and form a collaborative partnership, can anyone? Tiger seems to think by EOY LIV players will be teeing it up in PGA TOUR-sanctioned events whether they are existing events or newly formed Superpower competitions. Every die-hard golf fan sure hopes so; it’s our fandom that fuels the millions of dollars the players compete for whether they play in a shotgun with music or on hallowed tracks in tourneys steeped with tradition. Gents, just start playing together again. For the sake of golf humanity.
Winner’s Bag: What’s in the Bag: Ludvig Aberg, 2025 Genesis Invitational
– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys
Per Thomas: I don’t know about you, but when I watch Ludvig Aberg swing a golf club, my body gets all tingly and I start thinking in clichés and plaudits – “Poetry in motion.” “Winners win.” “He swings it like Hogan.” When Titleist sees him swing it, and win tourneys like he did yesterday at Torrey, they too are thinking majestically. “Whatever we pay him to play our clubs and our balls and carry our bag is worth every frickin’ penny. He’s so glorious and handsome! Long live the Big Swede!”

PAYDAY! The 2025 Genesis Invitational Winners & Losers
– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys
Per Thomas: Ludvig Åberg brought his big boy pants Sunday to Torrey Pines.
The Swedish Stud was on fire Sunday, torching Torrey Pines’ South Course with a final-round 66 to snag his second PGA Tour victory. It was fitting that Top Gunner Mav McNealy played lights out Sunday in the backyard of where the Navy’s TOPGUN program used to be based.
Meanwhile, the Tiger Woods event again went on without well… Tiger Woods. With his mom’s passing only a couple of weeks before the event was to tee off, Tiger recused his spot in the field. At least we get to see him rip it and chip it during TGL matches every few weeks. We miss you, Tiger!
Sergio Garcia: No room for egos in Ryder Cup — I was happy to pay fines
– by Rick Broadbent / The Times
Per Rick: “Sergio García believes his vast experience will help Europe’s Ryder Cup team through the New York bear pit this September and insists there are no issues with any player as he prepares to return to the DP World Tour…”
B&B POV: Is Sergio Garcia an egotistical man-child who deserves his reputation for being a jackass hothead? Hell yeah. Would the Ryder Cup be even more compelling with Sergio teeing it up once again or even riding around in a fancy pants cart with an earpiece yelping at Jon Rahm in Spanish? Double hell yeah! Let’s see it happen, Sergio. It’s in your court (mostly) to behave and get back in good graces with Ryder Cup Europe.
