After a chaotic protest on 18th green, Scottie Scheffler wins Travelers
– by Nick Piastowski / GOLF
Per Nick: “First, a back-and-forth. Then, chaos. But in the end, Scottie Scheffler. Again. Things returned to normal…”
B&B POV: Did cop PTSD kick-in for Scheff when he was about to putt on 18 yesterday? Thanks to the idiots with paint and the ill-timed protest, the already exciting action on the green turned chaotic. At least Tom Kim made his putt and was able to make it into the playoff. It was so bizarre to watch on TV; it had to have been surreal to witness in person.
Kim played so well, right up until he and his caddy decided that a lob wedge was going to be enough club for the short hitting cherub for his final approach. Not even close. All in all, the Travelers didn’t disappoint. And World #1 continued his blistering pace of victories.

WITB Winner’s Bag: Tyrrell Hatton, 2024 LIV Golf Nashville
– Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys
– Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys
Per Thomas: When he’s not throwing clubs and tantrums, he’s winning Ryder Cups, and this past week, tournaments on the LIV circuit. Congrats to one of our favorite hot heads, Tyrrell Hatton, for blowing out the exhibition field in Nashville.
The 5’9” English star is a Ping Tour Staff member. His bag is chalk full of the Arizona-based gear. Right up until he reaches into his bag for his lobber. When he does, he pulls out a trusty Vokey. Consider us not surprised in the least…

Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play 2024: Top 100 U.S. public-access layouts, ranked
– Jason Lusk / Golfweek
Golfweek just came out with their Top 100 US public courses annual list. Here are some highlights:
- Bandon Dunes features five of the top 13. A bucket list must.
- #1 Pebble Beach only costs $730 (wowzer) to play if you aren’t staying at the resort. Worth every penny.
- The US Open was just played on #3 on the list, Pinehurst #2.
- The most expensive public course to play in the US: Shadow Creek in LV. $1,250. Wynn to hotel guests, “top 1% only, please.” It’s going to hit 109 degrees there today. Drink lots of water.

Amy Yang stares down Sahalee to win first major at KPMG Women’s PGA Championship
– Matt Calkins / The Seattle Times
Per Matt: ‘“Some days, golf feels so easy, and so fun, and other days it feels like I want to retire really soon.”
That was Amy Yang after winning the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship by three strokes at Sahalee on Sunday. The South Korean had previously finished in the top 10 in 21 major championships and in the top five a dozen times…”
B&B POV: Amy Yang won the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship yesterday at Sahalee C.C. in Sammamish, WA. Like Xander’s victory earlier this summer at Vahalla in the men’s PGA Championship, Yang won her first major as well, even though she’s excelled on tour going on 15 years. The first Majors nut is always the hardest to crack.
For those of you who have never played Sahalee, you don’t know what you’re missing. The course is always in perfect shape. The greens are lightning fast when they want them to be. And the fairways are TIGHT. As tight as any course in the world. Yesterday, the course was set up perfectly for a ladies major championship. Yang easily won by three over Lillia Vu, Jin Young Ko and Miyu Yamashita, and earned a spot in the Olympics field. Congrats to the champ.
