What’s In The Bag: Aaron Rai’s Winning Setup at the 2026 PGA Championship

Aaron Rai might officially be a major champion now, but don’t expect him to suddenly start looking like every other modern Tour pro.

The Englishman still wears two black gloves. He still keeps iron headcovers in the bag. And despite winning the PGA Championship at Aronimink, he remains a true equipment free agent — building his setup entirely around comfort, trust, and consistency instead of endorsement obligations.

The two-glove look dates back to Rai’s childhood in England, where cold weather made the extra grip feel natural. He eventually grew so comfortable with it that he never switched back. His iron covers come from his father, who meticulously cleaned and protected Rai’s clubs while Rai was growing up because replacing them was just too expensive. We get it. Golf is expensive.

The entire setup feels very Aaron Rai and makes total sense. It worked. And it will again.

No unnecessary tinkering. No chasing trends. Just a carefully built bag that helped him close with a brilliant Sunday 65 and capture his first major title.

Here’s a closer look at the clubs that got it done.

Driver

Most Tour pros cycle through drivers every few months. Rai just won a major with one released back in 2019.

The TaylorMade M6 remains the oldest club in his bag, but it clearly still delivers exactly what he wants: accuracy and reliability. Rai has consistently ranked among the PGA Tour’s straightest drivers, and the M6 continues to earn its keep. While every one of his closest adversaries was spending time in the rough on Sunday, Rai repeatedly found the fairway.

Fairway Woods

Rai leans heavily into a wood-based setup, and the Qi10 fairway woods give him versatility off the tee and into long par-5s.

The setup fits his game perfectly: controlled launch, dependable spin, and enough firepower without sacrificing precision.

Hybrid

Depending on course setup, Rai occasionally swaps this hybrid in place of a longer iron.

Like most of his bag, it’s there for function over flash.

Irons

  • TaylorMade P7TW irons (5-9)
  • True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 shafts

Yes, the iron headcovers made another major championship appearance.

No, Rai still doesn’t care what golf Twitter thinks.

The P7TW blades are among the purest-looking irons in golf and demand elite ball striking — something Rai showcased all week at Aronimink.

The most interesting aspect of his iron setup is that he uses True Temper S300 shafts. Of the 300+ players who will tee it up in at least one PGA TOUR event this year, fewer than 5 will use this shaft. It is considerably softer and has more flex than the ubiquitous X100.

Wedges

  • Titleist Vokey SM9 wedges – 46° (@44), 48° (@49), 54°
  • Titleist WedgeWorks 60°
  • True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S300 shafts

Along with hitting fairways, his wedge play inside of 125 yards was his cheat code at Aronimink. His touch around the greens was one of the biggest reasons he separated himself Sunday afternoon.

Putter

The Spider Tour V has become increasingly popular on Tour in 2026, and Rai’s version officially has major-winning status now.

After draining a massive birdie putt on the 17th hole Sunday, this one probably isn’t leaving the bag anytime soon.

Golf Ball

Rai has reportedly used the Pro V1 since he was a kid, valuing consistency and predictable flight above everything else.

Again, very on-brand.

The GLOVES!!! – MacWet

The two gloves remain one of the most recognizable looks in professional golf — and now one of the most successful as well.MacWet doesn’t even market on their website this Rai’s model of gloves are for golf, but we know better.
