Per ESPN: “Michael Brennan had another Sunday opportunity and delivered in a big way. He made five straight birdies to pull away from Beau Hossler and close with a 6-under 64 to win the Wyndham Championship.”
B&B POV: Under immense pressure to just make the postseason, 24-year-old Michael Brennan did one better – he won the Wyndham Championship, locking up his tour card for two more seasons, and qualified for next year’s Masters Championship. How about them apples?

The Wyndham Championship Was More Than Just Another Tournament – Winners, Losers, and Payouts
Per Chris Lohman / Balls & Bogeys: For some players, the Wyndham Championship is simply the final event of the PGA TOUR regular season. For others, it is effectively a playoff game.
The Wyndham is the last chance for players to earn enough FedExCup points to finish inside the top 70, the cutoff for the FedExCup Playoffs. Once the final round is complete, the regular season is over and the 70-player playoff field is set. That makes every birdie, bogey and position on the leaderboard potentially meaningful for players hovering around the bubble.
And the 2026 Wyndham delivered plenty of drama.
2026 Wyndham Championship prize money payouts:
Ben James, -18, $586,500
Michael Brennan -22, $1,530,000
Beau Hossler, -19, $926,500

Michael Brennan Winning WITB: 2026 Wyndham Championship
Per Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys: At 24 years old, Michael Brennan is already figuring out what works for him. And apparently, what works is a whole lot of Titleist.
Brennan capped the 2026 PGA TOUR regular season in spectacular fashion Sunday, shooting a 6-under 64 to win the Wyndham Championship by three strokes. He finished at 22-under 258, matching the tournament scoring record at Sedgefield Country Club and, perhaps more importantly, punched his golden ticket to the FedExCup Playoffs. Brennan entered the week in the lowly position No. 105 in the FedExCup standings and jumped all the way to No. 47 with the victory.

Donald Trump attends final round of LIV Golf New York with Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Gary Player
Per Todd Kelly / Golfweek: “LIV Golf New York wraps up Sunday, Aug. 9, at Trump National Bedminster in New Jersey, and Donald Trump was on site for the final round.
Trump was seen in the restaurant with the governor of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, as well as Gary Player. The three met with a room full of people, including LIV players, with Trump bragging up Player’s career accomplishments.”
B&B POV: With guys jumping from LIV, I wonder if the president tried to get in on the action and actually play? Someone had to fill Mickelson’s spot.
