Henley makes four straight birdies to win playoff at Colonial

Per ESPN: “Russell Henley went from standing in the rough and just trying to avoid going over par in the final round of the Charles Schwab Challenge to winning the tournament…”

B&B POV: Russell Henley is considered one of the nicest guys on the PGA TOUR by his peers. Do they still feel that way this morning after he lit them all up on his way to winning the Charles Schwab Challenge yesterday at Colonial? His finish coming home—and in the playoff—is indicative of just how good the diminutive, far-too-often overlooked, Georgia Bulldog is.

Happy Masters Lottery Day for Those Who Celebrate

Per Riley Hamel / Skratch: Golf “The application window for the 2027 Masters ticket lottery opened on Monday, June 1, and will run through June 20. Once no more applications are accepted, the Masters and Augusta National will send out the results in less than two months.

If you’ve never applied for Masters tickets before, the process is very simple…”

B&B POV: Odds are better that you hit a hole-in-one than that you win the Masters lottery. We’re hoping both happen in 2026!

Winners, Losers, and Payouts: 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge

Per Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys: “I was just trying to give myself a chance.” That was Russell Henley’s simple explanation after one of the most dramatic finishes of the 2026 PGA Tour season.

Standing on the 16th tee Sunday afternoon at Colonial Country Club, Henley trailed 54-hole leader Eric Cole by three shots. With only three holes remaining and a crowded leaderboard surrounding him, the tournament appeared destined to belong to someone else. Or did it?

Three holes later, everything had changed…

2026 Charles Schwab Challenge prize money payouts:

  1. Russell Henley, -12, $1,782,000
  2. Eric Cole, -12, $1,079,100
  3. T3 – Ben Griffin, -11, $524,700

What’s In The Bag: Russell Henley’s Winning Setup at the 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge

Per Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys: Russell Henley didn’t overpower Colonial Country Club. He doesn’t overpower many golf courses. That’s not his superpower. This Bulldog hits lasers, drains snakes and has a nasty habit of showing up on Sunday when everyone else starts leaking oil.

On a golf course that has rewarded precision and discipline for nearly 80 years, Henley, a long-standing Titleist staffer, delivered one of the most memorable finishes of the 2026 PGA Tour season. Trailing by three shots with three holes to play, he birdied Nos. 16, 17 and 18 before adding another birdie on the first playoff hole to defeat Eric Cole and capture the Charles Schwab Challenge.

After returning to Switzerland for treatment, Tiger Woods won’t play in British Open, per reports

Per Tod Leonard / Golf Digest: “It does not come as a shock, but more a jolt of hard reality. For the second straight year, the man whose 15 major victories are second only to Jack Nicklaus’ 18 will miss all four of the season’s major championships. As reported by Sports Illustrated on Tuesday, Tiger Woods has not entered July’s Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, and with no exemption into next month’s U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, the 50-year-old will be absent from the game’s biggest events this summer…”

B&B POV: Sadly, it’s feeling like we won’t get to see a 2026 Tiger Woods comeback. What would it have looked like? He would have played in some majors. We knew he had signed up for the US Men’s Senior Championship. He also would have played with Charlie in the PNC Championship. Now, all signs point to us not seeing him tee it up this season.

Get healthy, Tiger. For yourself, for your family, and for your fans – us included!
