What the U.S. Open crowd got wrong about Wyndham Clark
Per James Colgan / GOLF: “A reputation is earned in drops and lost in buckets.
Shinnecock Hills knows this. They have spent more than a century — 135 painstaking years — slowly accruing the social, political and golf capital that brought them to here: A place that is roundly considered one of the best and most prestigious private golf clubs anywhere in the world.
B&B POV: All week, we were forced to revisit Clark’s indiscretions from last year’s U.S. Open at Oakmont and other tournaments where his temper got the best of him. Sure, over the past couple of years, he’s dented a few prized lockers, dropped some hot-mic F-bombs, exploded a tee marker, and nearly drilled a volunteer or two when a driver mysteriously “slipped” from his hands after a wayward tee shot headed to OB heaven. We’ve all been there, right?
However, none of us has done what Wyndham Clark has: win a second U.S. Open while battling heckling fans and a TV audience rooting for anyone but Wyndham Clark. He did—and deservedly so.
Seven years from now, when the championship returns to Oakmont, Clark will likely be watching highlights from his Denver mansion. Because if things stand today, Oakmont’s membership probably won’t be inviting this year’s U.S. Open champion back anytime soon.

Winners, Losers, and Payouts: 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills
Per Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys: The final round of the 2026 U.S. Open was a 5+ hour stress test for everyone who teed it up, even if they were never in contention – but especially nervy for Wyndham Clark, who battled demons in his head and in the stands.
Clark entered Sunday at Shinnecock Hills holding a seemingly comfortable six-shot lead, but anyone familiar with U.S. Open golf knew better. Sam Burns made sure of it. The Louisiana native fired a brilliant 3-under 67, applying pressure throughout the afternoon and briefly making it look as though one of the largest final-round comebacks in major championship history was about to unfold…
2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills prize money payouts:
1. Tom Kim, -1, $1,532,530
2. Wyndham Clark, -4, $4,500,000
3. Sam Burns, -3, $2,430,000

What’s In The Bag: Wyndham Clark’s Winning Setup at the 2026 U.S. Open
Per Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys: A lot has changed for Wyndham Clark in a few short months. Earlier this season, after searching for answers on the greens, Clark put a Ping Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset putter in play at the Texas Children’s Houston Open. The change immediately paid dividends. Not long after, he captured the CJ Cup Byron Nelson while setting a PGA Tour record in Strokes Gained: Putting, gaining more than 12 shots on the field with the flatstick. The results were so impressive that Ping signed Clark to the company’s first putter-only endorsement agreement in more than 50 years.

Everything We Know About the PGA TOUR’s New Schedule
Per Riley Hamel / Skratch “The PGA TOUR, CEO Brian Rolapp, and the Future Competitions Committee have teased future schedule changes for the majority of 2026. On Tuesday, we should hear exactly what those will look…”
B&B POV: More importantly, we want to know what the tour’s reintegration plan is for LIV golfers who want to return to the motherland. Lay it out now. The odds of LIV staging a season-long tour in 2027 are near zero. Maybe they’ll field a small series of events in a handful of countries that have shown interest in the LIV team model, but the “product” as it lives today is dying. Come on Rolapp. Time to lead and build yourself a legacy.
