Sahith Theegala & Tom Hoge Lifted the Big One Sunday at the QBE Shootout

What do pros do when they’re playing for fun on a perfectly manicured golf course that’s set up for the best players in the world to rake in a butt-load of birdies? They make them. A lot of them.

With that scenario in mind, I don’t care how easy the golf course was playing on Sunday, Theegala and Hoge’s 10-under best-ball final-round performance was phenomenal, and helped them wrap up the QBE Shootout victory at Tiburon in Naples.

Theegala made a 15-foot birdie putt on the final hole Sunday as he and Tom Hoge became the first rookie team to win the QBE Shootout in 11 years.

“It’s nice to get a taste of victory because it’s so hard out here,” Theegala said.

Side note: Guess who we think is going to win a few tourneys on Tour in ’23? Yep, Big S. Theegala. We can’t wait. He’s fun to watch and even more fun to root for.

How well did Nelly Korda and her partner Denny McCarthy play, finishing T-5? They buried buckets of birdies and gained tons of respect from peers and golf fans alike. Great showing Nelly. You too Denny!

We love that this tourney features mixed teams. Heck, next year we’re hoping Nelly tees it up with sister Jessica and lifts the big trophy come Sunday.

The best highlight of the tourney — right here. Ryan Palmer, who finished in 2nd place with partner Charley Hoffman somehow made a mess and a brilliant birdie on the same hole (#17) to keep it close down the stretch. Next time, dunk it on your first try Palmer.
