Tiger and Nike No More

The Tiger + Nike golf fashion break-up is big news in the golf apparel industry, but not a shocker to anyone who has been reading the tea leaves over the past couple of months. Tiger has been Nike’s biggest endorser for 27 years, which is one heck of a run. In addition to Tiger and Nike breaking up, Jason Day recently moved on from Nike, partnering up with Malbon, one of the coolest/drippiest brands making inroads into golf.

Whatever brand Tiger does align himself with, we’re hoping to never, ever see the mock turtle collar again which he has made famous. Like the Sansabelt slacks of yesteryear, we’ve seen enough of the turtle tweener top style (not a t-sheet, not a polo) to last our lifetime.

Sure, he won plenty of tourneys wearing the red turtle tweener, but when he got me excited while watching him lift Big-A’s and pumping fists, it wasn’t like I was ever going to run out and purchase this look. Unless it was candy corn and costume season.

And speaking of costume season, only Hubert Green (RIP) could have pulled off this slimming look.
