Since this is Min Woo Lee’s maiden PGA TOUR victory, we are dissecting his WITB setup for the first time. And what do we see? Right away, three things stand out: 1. He’s a Callaway man. Some of his bag deliciously reeks of some of Callaway’s newest gear; 2. In a contradictory fashion, most of his irons were first rolled out to the public before he could even grow his pencil-thin stache; 3. He’s squeezed two SM10 Vokey wedges into his 14-tool set. Of course, he did. He’s a winner.
Key takeaways from Min Woo’s WITB setup:
- For a little guy, Lee hits bombs. Not always straight, but his clubhead and ball speeds are ridiculous. He currently sits as the 3rd longest driver of the ball on tour—averaging an astounding. The two woods he carries are Callaway’s newest Elyte Triple Diamond models: an 8.5 degree driver and a 16.5 degree 3/4 wood.
- He loves his driving iron. And he’s not the only one. His Callaway X-Forged UT, which first hit the market in 2020, is a popular choice for Callaway and non-Callaway staffers. His stinger is one of the best out there right now. Not as good as Tiger’s, but it’s still a beauty to see in person whistling by you, hovering 30 feet off the ground.
- He plays with a Callaway 50-degree Opus gap wedge and Vokey sand and lob wedges (56, 60). We love the way the Opus wedges look and sit. Will non-full bag Callaway staffers stick with Opus down the road or will they still turn to Vokey wedges for shots inside of 110 yards? Time will tell.
- Lee plays the Chrome Tour X ball, versus just Chrome Tour. Per Google AI: The Callaway Chrome Tour is designed for a balance of soft feel and distance, while the Chrome Tour X is engineered for more distance, lower spin on long shots, and a penetrating ball flight, with the X being more spinny on approach shots. Damn Google is smart. Note: Do you own testing. Always.
