It’s a rare sight to see a top pro’s golf bag exclusively decked out in gear from a single manufacturer. But then again, Rory McIlroy isn’t your average tour pro. Fresh off his 2025 Players Championship win, everyone is itching to know what he played with. It’s no surprise for us that Rory’s bag continues to be a rolling advertisement for TaylorMade – from his woods to his irons, wedges, and even those pristine white TP5 balls that seem to defy gravity and spin like he’s playing with a yo-yo.
Rory’s deal to swing TaylorMade for every shot has been reported to fetch over $10M a year. That story came out a few years ago. We’re guessing his total TM take-home is at least 25% more than that by now. That’s some serious dough for playing with toys! And as if that wasn’t enough, Rory just pocketed a cool $4.5M from his latest victory. Clearly, both Rory and TaylorMade are laughing all the way to the bank. When you’re at Rory’s level, you’re not just good – you’re phenomenal. Phenomenally rich that is.
Growing up in the oh-so-posh middle-class Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland, Rory has ascended to multi-millionaire status and now lives a life fit for a golf king. Unlike the British monarchy, though, he’s earned every cent with his talent, not just by wearing a crown and waving.
Key WITB Takeaways:
- Rory’s not using the new Qi35 TaylorMade woods, which just hit the market. He’ll probably replace his Qi10 driver at some point, but for now, why mess with perfection? After all, he’s the best driver of the golf ball on the planet.
- His shafts? Stiff as they come. Eventually, he’ll probably opt for something a little softer, but at the rate he’s smashing it, he’ll still be playing with those “big boy” shafts well into his 50s, while others are already switching it up in their 30s.
- Rory opts for a 5-wood instead of a hybrid, utility club, or long-iron. Whether he’s flighting it low or launching it sky-high, he’s a master of his woods and has the perfect club for any situation.
- So, why aren’t we playing with a TM Spider Tour X putter? Rory and Scheffler both use it – do we not want to win, too?
- Rory tested the new TP5 ball at Pebble, noting it flies lower than his previous TP5x, while still offering the same spin. Sounds like we need to pick some up and give them a try.
