Jhonattan Vegas’ (love the last name) current winning equipment set-up is a purebred conundrum for fans who love buying gear that PGA Tour winners play with. You see, the only way you’re going to be able to find his driver, fairway wood, and irons online for purchase is if you’re good at finding diamonds in the rough.
His driver is no longer carried by Titleist, or by any retailer for that matter. His fairway finding 3-wood was produced back when Tiger was still hunting for victories; and his MP-4 Mizuno irons — we’re pretty sure he was playing the model while in college at UT. Jhonattan is an equipment free agent. And thanks to his victory—and the thrill of lifting a PGA Tour Big-A trophy yesterday—he isn’t likely to change out his set anytime soon.
Key equipment takeaways:
- The victor plays with a TSi3 driver, the same model JT used to win his last major. He leads the tour in the “Total Driving” metric and sits 10 in driving distance. Very nice.
- His M6 3-wood first hit the market in 2019. We’re guessing he’s got a handful of back-ups in his garage. He’s set the loft at 14 degrees. Big Jhonattan hits a high ball, and by using a lower-lofted fairway wood, he’s likely able to
- His using a L.A.B putter. We’re seeing more players put those into their bags. Scotty Cameron is still number 1, but competition is coming baby!
- Vokey Wedges. Mic. Dropped
