WITB Winner’s Bag: Grayson Murray, 2024 Sony Open in Hawaii

Well, Grayson Murray just entered into an endorsement deal with Mizuno for the 2024 season. He celebrated his new endorsement fortunes (like most, we have no idea what his actual comp from the Japanese company is or will be) by winning the Sony Open with their gear. Pretty cool for Grayson who was already playing Mizuno before he started to get paid by Mizuno to play their equipment. And pretty cool for Mizuno. How about that timing?

Key takeaways from Grayson’s gear set-up:

  1. Even though he teed it up with Mizuno irons, he isn’t playing the recently released 241 series of irons. At some point, even with this top finish and the confidence he’s most certainly playing with, he’ll need to transition over to Mizuno’s newest gear. That’s just what you have to do when the company is paying you $$$
  2. You and I can go purchase his 10.5 degree driver set-up right now, that’s if you can find someone who stocks his exotic shaft. His driver at Dick’s with a stock shaft = $400. His driver with the exotic = $800+.
  3. He purposely is using clubs with extra loft. His 3-wood comes in at 16.5 degrees, the highest on tour. His 5-wood, 20 degrees.
