One of the better ball strikers on Tour, Tom Kim has a full-bag endorsement deal with Titleist. The partnership between him and the manufacturer sure looks like it has staying power too. At only 21, his victory yesterday marked his 3rd on Tour, joining the ranks of guys like Tiger and Spieth for making a huge splash before they can even grow a full beard or legally rent a car (is this even a thing anymore?).
There isn’t anything too crazy with his gear setup. Here are our biggest takeaways:
- Vokey wedges, but of course!
- He had a hybrid in his bag this week vs. a 5-wood or driving iron
- His wedges are bent strong, really strong – his PW is 46 degrees, SW is set to 53 and his lobber sits at 59
- Not surprisingly, his shafts are some of the softest and lightest on tour. His swing speed is more like Bryan Harman and less like Justin Thomas, thus, little reason to swing X-Stiff shafts in his longer clubs, opting for more feel
