Scottie Scheffler is inevitable, winning Hero World Challenge to close out record season
– by Joel Beall / Golf Digest
Per Joel: “He started the day one back, although had the tournament on ice over the final holes. In reality, the issue was never in doubt as soon as his name appeared in the field. What happened at the Hero World Challenge was what happened throughout 2024: like continental drift or the day turning to night, Scottie Scheffler is inevitable…”
B&B POV: As far as non-PGA TOUR/DP World Tour events go for having stacked baller fields, Tiger’s Hero World Challenge, which concluded Sunday in the Bahamas, has unquestionably the strongest. Sorry LIV, even you guys come in behind Tiger’s “fun” raiser with friends. SHOCKER: Scheff won running away by six shots, even though he started the last round one stroke behind. The final tally for his 2024 campaign – nine wins and $30M+ in total earnings. $62.5M if you count the bonus pool greenbacks. Crazy.
Lynch: Greg Norman finds himself in a perilous place — he’s outlived his usefulness for the Saudis
– by Eamon Lynch / Golfweek
Per Eamon: “Optics matter in business, and even moreso in our current polarized moment when believing is seeing, when any detail can be twisted in support of a bias we already hold…”
B&B POV: Love him or hate him, there is no questioning that Greg Norman has a world-class ego to match his world-class member drive. Norman helped launch LIV. He helped recruit some big-name players by waiving PIF’s billions in his weathered hands, dolling it out like he was sitting stageside at the Rhino. But he couldn’t land a viable TV deal for his product. And he certainly was never going to be the LIV exec who was going to be taking congratulatory pictures with Jay Monahan and his PE brothers when a true partnership does come together between the world’s two biggest pro tours. Bye-bye for now, Norman. Don’t let the door hit you in the arse…
PAYDAY! 2024 Hero World Challenge Prize Money Payouts
– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys
Per Thomas: “Scottie Scheffler absolutely spanked the field at the Hero World Challenge on Sunday, tearing up the course with a filthy bogey-free 9-under 63. Winner, winner. He didn’t just beat the competition—he left Tom Kim and 18 others questioning their career choices…”

WITB Presented by Golf Galaxy: Scottie Scheffler, 2024 Hero World Challenge
– by Thomas Hamden / Balls & Bogeys
Per Thomas: Now, Balls & Bogeys has written a couple of handfuls of WITB articles this year highlighting the gear that Scottie Scheffler played with to win NINE significant events in ’24. Let that soak in. He played in 20 tourneys and won nine. The Players Championship. The Masters. Olympic gold. Was the Tour Championship victor. And just this weekend, he won Tiger’s buddy fest in the Bahamas. Boom. He accomplished all this while representing renowned TaylorMade, sneaking glorious Vokey wedges into his bag, and hitting Titleist ProV1 pearlie white rippers up & down fairways. We are talking about Boss-level bootie-kicking play of the finest order. Setting aside hyperbole, he just completed the greatest season of competitive golf since Tiger Woods’s eight-win 2006 season…

Tiger Woods isn’t playing the Hero, but here’s when and where he might tee it up next
– by Cameron Jourdan / Golfweek
Per Cameron: “The question in recent years has become when Tiger Woods will play again.
Well, the question is again surfacing after his latest back surgery. He had microdecompression surgery on his lower back Sept. 13 to relieve nerve impingement and back pain and hasn’t played competitively since the Open Championship at Royal Troon in July, where he missed the cut…”
B&B POV: There will never be a bigger draw in golf than Tiger Woods. Heck, his Twitter tracker in its heyday had nearly 500k followers. But we barely get to see him tee it up anymore due to countless self-inflicted injuries (from training with Seals to driving into ditches) and just the inevitable wear and tear of hitting millions of golf shots. We love us some Tiger just as much as the next guy/gal. When will we see our golf hero, Mr. Big Cat, tee it up again? PNC? TGL? Genesis? Masters? Another mind-numbing The Match match?
